The cabinet adopted a new arrangement for students on Thursday. In the future, overcrowded master’s programs at universities could be restricted, as is already the case with bachelor’s and diploma programs. In addition, a limit may be placed on admission applications per person and per semester.
However, applications for a minimum of five studies must be permitted. Another change concerns students in teacher training. From 2025/26, the training for primary school teachers will consist of a three-year bachelor’s degree and a two-year master’s degree. The primary education course, which also includes primary school, currently consists of four years of a bachelor’s degree plus one year of a master’s degree.
At the secondary level, such as high school, AHS and BMHS, there are a total of six years: four bachelor’s and two master’s degrees. For this group it should be one year shorter from 2026/27. In addition, the training must be more practice-oriented and the master’s program must be easier to follow part-time.
It is no longer possible to revoke the title after ten years
In addition, the cabinet has decided that an academic title can no longer be withdrawn after ten years due to plagiarism in bachelor’s, diploma or master’s theses. The situation is different with plagiarism in dissertations and habilitation theses.
