Pensions and daily allowances: this is how much our EU politicians in Brussels earn

A new EU Parliament will be elected on June 9. Although many parties received prominent rejections when drawing up their lists, the ‘political places’ in Brussels itself are highly sought after. High wages, compensation and pensions make the job even more attractive. The ‘Krone’ looked at who could get how much ‘pension money’.

‘If you have a grandfather, send him to Europe’ is an old but still relevant saying about politicians who end their careers in the Union in the autumn. Since the accession of Austria on 1 January 1995, representatives have been sent to various offices in Brussels and/or Strasbourg. Traditionally, not only the average age of the red-white-red parliamentarians is high, but also their entitlement to salaries, allowances and pension benefits.
