Agreement between the municipal government and the PSN to approve the 2024 budgets in Pamplona

The groups that make up the government team of the Pamplona City Council (EH Bildu, Geroa Bai and Contigo Navarra) and the PSN signed this Monday the political agreement reached by the four parties that allows the approval of the agreement Budgets of the church council for this 2024.

Thanks to the pact between the four parties, the city council can approve the bills on March 26. The Pamplona City Council receives a budget of 265 million32% more than the previous ones and 12% more than in the last budgets approved in 2021. This is the largest budget since 2007.

The agreement, which allows the approval of the first budget of the government team that emerged after the motion of censure filed against the mayor of UPN in December, was signed by the mayor of Pamplona, ​​Joseba Asiron (EH Bildu ), the spokespersons of Geroa Bai and Contigo Navarra, Koldo Martínez and Txema Mauleón, as representatives of the municipal government, and the spokesperson of the socialist group of the Pamplona City Council, ​​Marina Curiel.

The budget agreement includes a commitment to allow appropriations for the amount of 3.7 million euros to finance the amendments partial parts that will be presented by the PSN. In return, all parties will vote in favor of the previously agreed amendments and against the amendments not signed by them, unless a different direction of the vote is unanimously decided. The PSN has also committed to vote against in its entirety the amendments that could be submitted by any municipal group and to facilitate the approval of the Budget Project. “Get Pamplona out of paralysis”

In statements to journalists, the three parties supporting the government agreed that the pact “brings Pamplona out of years of paralysis,” and does so with “comprehensive and social” budgets.

The Mayor of Pamplona, Joseba Asirónstressed that the agreement “is the result of work between different ones, which in his opinion has “an additional difficulty” but also an “added value”. The pact, which was reached in “just two months”, shows that “It Wasn’t That Difficult”. Moreover, he thanked the rest of the parties for “putting the interests of the city above party interests.”

The councilor of EH Bildu has assured that the bills will receive the support of 60% of the plenary, which is “a lot”, although he has announced that the municipal council will start contacts with UPN and PP to gain their support.

According to Asiron, what is striking is the impetus that will be given to neighborhoods, the ecological and energy transition and housing. However, he has admitted that “outstanding issues remain, such as the issue of the fallen”, although he has shown his belief that they will reach an agreement throughout the legislature.

For his part, Geroa Bai’s spokesperson at the Pamplona City Council said: Koldo Martinez, has expressed his “satisfaction” with the agreement for “new and good budgets that will bring Iruña out of years of institutional paralysis and expansion.” According to him, it shows the four groups’ “decided commitment” to “a more cohesive, more egalitarian and fairer Iruña, and if you will allow me, freer and more fun.”

In the same line, Txema Mauleon, from Contigo Navarra, has described the agreement as a “second big step” after the motion of censure for “an agreement for the future and for the city”, which “will lift Pamplona out of the paralysis in which it has been. in these years of reign.” right.” He stressed that it includes actions to “strengthen the care program for the elderly, for people in a situation of dependency and for young people and families with difficulties in employment or housing.”
