Through a huge series of videos they want to ‘show the ins and outs and peculiarities of our country’. The initiative presented today is part of the Herri Libre Bat campaign.
“We believe that it is time to move forward, putting the sovereignty and recognition of the people or nation at the center, to elevate ourselves as a people a little higher. It is time to achieve some successes as a people. The campaign wants to respond to this Herri Libre Bat. To do this, he wants to make an extraordinary appeal to all Basque citizens: the time has come to move forward together and with all our strength.”
This is how the citizens’ movement has presented itself Guur Esku its next dynamic: the Bagara video marathon. Through videos shot city by city, the goal is to “represent the peculiarities of Euskal Herria.”
In an appearance in Donostia-San Sebastián, the spokesperson for Gure Esku Josu Etxaburu explained the details of the initiative. As he said, “we live in times full of risk and opportunity.” “The risks are evident: the rise of the far right across Europe, continued attacks on sovereignty, the strengthening of authoritarianism, multiple crises, the belligerent climate… but like all uncertain times, we find ourselves in a scenario full of opportunities and challenges. ” he noted.
Given this scenario, they plan to activate citizens to show the identity of Euskal Herria city by city. “We want to launch each of the cities in Euskal Herria and promote cooperation between groups so that they join us and thus represent our city, showing that we are one,” Etxaburu said.
