Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen wants to put an end to strategic appointments by the Greens and the ÖVP quickly before the elections for the National Council. He will no longer confirm top positions from July 9, it was said on Tuesday.
According to a report by Ö1, the head of state does not want to bias the next federal government. In plain language, this is intended to prevent Turquoise Green from quickly filling top positions with people they trust.
Who is affected by the ban
Section, group or department heads are affected by the signing ban. Completely new governments that require management are excluded. Van der Bellen will certainly confirm the orders here, for example with the Federal Crisis Manager and his deputy. Naturally, the coalition has not yet reached an agreement on this.
Last week, the government in the Council of Ministers set September 29 as the date for the elections for the National Council.
