He will govern with an absolute majority, thanks to the 27 votes of the PNV and the 12 of the PSE-EE. He has committed to improving “the well-being and opportunities” of citizens in Euskadi by doing politics “with emotional sensitivity”.
The planned script has been fulfilled: Imanol Pradales takes over from Iñigo Urkullu. The Jeltzale candidate was appointed as Lehendakari in the first vote with an absolute majority in the Basque parliament, adding to the 27 seats of his party, the PNV, the 12 seats of the PSE-EE. The EH Bildu candidate, Pello Otxandiano, has received 27 votes from his coalition.
The other parties represented in the Basque Parliament, PP (7), Sumar (1) and Vox (1), have abstained from the electoral vote for the two candidates, as the statutes of the Basque Chamber only consider the possibility of voting in favor or abstain, but not vote against.
The investiture session started at 9:30 am with the intervention of Otxandiano and Pradales. In his speech, the Jeltzale leader committed to improving “the well-being and opportunities” of citizens in Euskadi by doing politics “with emotional sensitivity” and conveyed the “road map” that the new Basque government will have.
For his part, Otxandiano has proposed “a shared country project”, which aims for a new political status. The sovereigntist candidate has pointed out that the “historic” moment requires “laying the foundations for a shared country project and a new model of governance,” in addition to “regaining national ambition and thinking about political action from the perspective of a new national and social policy’. “.
The expansion will continue
