The socialist Miguel de los Toyos, new Deputy Minister of Housing of the Basque government

Date:

The former mayor of Eibar joins Councillor Denis Itxaso’s team as second-in-command in the housing area.

Former Eibar mayor Miguel de los Toyos will be appointed Deputy Minister of Housing of the Basque Government next week and will be part of the team of advisor Denis Itxaso.

In a statement, the Basque Government said it will be responsible for implementing the Basque Government’s housing policy “at a time when it is a priority to restore hope to all those citizens who have problems accessing housing.”

The statement also highlights Miguel De los Toyos’ 13 years as mayor of Eibar. “Municipal politics involves commitment, work and a lot of responsibility, but it is also tangible politics in which your actions or omissions, your successes or mistakes, your decisions affect people who, in many cases, you even know personally,” he says.

De los Toyos was appointed Deputy Minister of Territorial Planning and Urban Agenda of the Basque Government in 2021, in the department led by socialist Iñaki Arriola, a position he has held until now.
