Edu Barinaga, PNV candidate for mayor of Labastida, resigns as councilor

Date:

Barinaga has relinquished his record due to disagreements with management. If the PNV, the second most voted list in the 28 million elections in Labastida, does not nominate a candidate in the plenary session on Saturday, the PP will get the mayoralty.

The PNV candidate for mayor of Labastida, Edu Barinagahas resigned his position as councilor and is replaced by the next on the list.

Barinaga explained that in an interview with ETB the Araba Buru Batzar yesterday asked him not to submit his candidacy for mayor in plenary sitting on Saturday. Not satisfied with the directive set by management, he finally decided to step aside.

That is the reason for my resignation goals have changed‘, he pointed out.

EH Bildu has offered his support to the PNV to prevent the municipal council from falling into the hands of the PP, but in the event that no candidate is proposed, the mayor will be the popular Daniel García.

The PP calls on the PNV to let it rule as the list with the most votes, reminding it that they will contribute their votes to tip the balance in places like Durango or the Gipuzkoa General Assembly.

In the municipal elections of 28 May, the PP (4 councillors) was the formation with the most votes in Labastida, ahead of the PNV (three councillors) and EH Bildu (2 councillors).
