The sovereigntist coalition demands the “publication” of Emergencies, a parliamentary commission on fake news, which this year will approve the Renewables PTS, strengthen Osakidetza workers and a plan for victims of sexist violence.

The parliamentary spokesperson for EH Bildu, Nerea Kortajarenapresented this Monday the battery of 13 initiatives that the coalition has registered in the Chamber, including a proposal to “publicize” the Emergency OSI, since “the privatization of this service only causes problems”, and the creation of a special commission in the Basque Parliament to analyze the phenomenon of “fake news” and “take concrete measures that contribute to the protection of the right to receive truthful information”.

At a press conference in the Basque Parliament, Kortajarena announced thirteen non-legislative proposals that the coalition has registered so that they can be discussed when plenary sessions resume in September next year.

Kortajarena explained that among these initiatives is a proposal that defends the importance of carrying out an ‘orderly expansion’ of the Renewable energy.

As he explained, EH Bildu’s proposal is “clear” and asks the Basque government to “definitively approve the renewable energy sector plan before the end of the year.”

Another initiative refers to the situation of Osakidetzabecause the coalition believes that “it is going to be a central issue, also in this term of office.” “We believe that it is urgent and a priority to reverse the decline that is occurring and that citizens have experienced in recent years with regard to the health care system,” he noted.

As for the ‘structural problem’ of the sexist violenceKortajarena explained that since 2003, 70 women and six minors have been murdered by sexist violence. That is why he believes it is necessary to address the right to compensation for their families and friends.’

Another initiative of EH Bildu focuses on the phenomenon of ‘fake news’. “We must preserve and guarantee the right to receive objective information and that requires, from our point of view, combating the use of information based on manipulation and lies. The rise of ‘fake news’ is truly worrying,” Kortajarena stressed.

The coalition believes that the Basque Parliament should set up a special commission to analyse this phenomenon and “adopt concrete measures that contribute to the protection of the right to receive truthful information.”

Finally, Kortajarena assured the public that Philip VI this Monday with the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, that the Basques have no king and that they “do not pay homage to any Bourbon”.
