In the election year of 2024, top politicians have prescribed a new round of zero wages for 2025. The turquoise-green government is freezing the salaries of federal politicians for another year, just as it did in 2023.
Those affected include the Federal President and the entire government team, as well as the National Council chairmen and club chairmen. Politicians’ salaries are effectively linked to the statutory pension adjustment factor, based on the average inflation rate over the past twelve months. This is expected to be between 4.5 and 4.7 percent.
Representatives get a half raise
While this increase will be completely cancelled out for top politicians, the intention is that, as last year, representatives at the federal level (National Council and Federal Council) will receive half of the adjustment factor. The extent to which the adjustment takes place at the state level will be left to the states, the turquoise-green federal government explained on Tuesday.
