Date:

The domestic election campaign is entering its hot phase: On Thursday evening, Andreas Babler (SPÖ) and Werner Kogler (Greens) and then Herbert Kickl (FPÖ) and Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS) will fight for the voters’ favor. Follow the TV confrontations in the live ticker of krone.at.

Just in time for the second wave of posters, the top candidates of the SPÖ, Groenen, FPÖ and NEOS will meet at ORF. The program:

  • Babler and Kogler will duel from 8:15 p.m.
  • Kickl and Meinl-Reisinger meet at 9:05 p.m.

The candidates have to convince themselves within 50 minutes. With the krone.at live ticker you are there in real time:

The Greens and the FPÖ presented their second series of posters for the National Council elections on Thursday. After ‘Voting as if there is tomorrow’, the Eco Party, for example, is now calling on people to vote for climate, solidarity, nature conservation and responsibility on 29 September.

The PVV tried to tailor it to top candidate Kickl. The messages range from ‘Because he understands you’ to ‘Together Chancellor’. Secretary-General Michael Schnedlitz emphasized that the posters were created “through communication between Herbert Kickl and the people.”

During the hot election campaign phase, the top candidates have to make a number of TV appearances. “A good election campaign can ultimately make a difference of up to two percent. TV duels and media presence are an important factor,” says Christoph Haselmayer, head of the Institute for Demoscopy and Data Analysis (IFDD). But one thing is also certain: mistakes on television for a broad audience can be even more serious!
