The three groups have signed a letter warning that if they do not, Ibarrola himself will be primarily responsible as they estimate the loss would amount to well over a quarter of a million euros.

EH Bildu, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin jointly signed a document calling on the current mayor, Cristina Ibarrola (UPN), to convene a “formal” plenary session. “very urgent”, between today and tomorrowfor the final approval of the changes to Tax Regulation No. 1, which regulates the premium tax for 2024.

In this letter they warn Ibarrola that, if this is not done, “it will be impossible” to implement the update of that tax and publish it in the BON before December 31 and that, accordingly, money will no longer be introduced, which “a serious damage to the municipal coffers”. The loss, as they estimate, it would amount to more than a quarter of a million euros.

The three groups have indicated that, if the demand to convene an extraordinary and urgent plenary session on the issue is not met, the mayor himself “could be punished.” personal property liability“to the extent that “he knows the consequences very well.”

For example, they recalled that the Navarra Provincial Law on Local Finance stipulates that “tax regulations shall enter into force in the year following their adoption, unless another date is indicated simultaneously with or after their publication.”

“The inability to finalize this tax regulation in a timely manner, with final approval and publication in the BON before December 31, means that the applicable rate will be that of 2023,” the signatory groups warn.

This issue should have been discussed last week during the hearing, which was suspended after the filing of the motion of censure against the mayor.
