She is leading the election campaign in Vienna and is state party secretary of the SPÖ under Michael Ludwig: In the ‘Krone’ Barbara Novak talks about (too much) immigration, 4,600 euros in social assistance for a large Syrian family and coalition negotiations with Andreas Babler. And it makes a clear announcement about community building: what could soon change for the residents.
“Crown”: Mrs Novak, what do you think Bruno Kreisky would say about the current state of the SPÖ?
Barbara Novak: Bruno Kreisky would be particularly pleased with the choice of subject. Putting education policy first and the fight against child poverty central.
Every party leader since Werner Faymann has been sent into the desert by his own party, the arithmetical chaos in which Andreas Babler was involved in the election of the party leader is still physically painful today, in the case of Luger people are lying everywhere, the Viennese SPÖ is tearing it apart shortly before the election program of the chef. Why should you give your vote to this social democracy?
So the Viennese party has always stood behind the federal party leaders and the federal party and still stands behind them. We have already proven this in the EU election campaign. And there are many reasons why you should vote for the SPÖ. For example, to improve working conditions, health care and affordable housing.
