Garmendia asks for “discretion” in case of Bilbao residents detained in Venezuela

The representative of the Government of Spain in the CAV, Marisol Garmendiathought this Thursday that it is “wise” to “discretion” in the case of the two citizens from Bilbao who are being held in Venezuela “so that everything goes well”. In statements to journalists at an event in Bilbao, he said that “all caution is not enough” in this case, in which “there is no big news at the moment”.

When asked if families are advised not to speak to the media, she pointed out that it is “common sense to remain cautious under these circumstances.” He has assured that they are holding firm contact with families from José María Basoa and Andrés Martínez, who expressed their “concern”.

He also refused to “contribute to speculation and information that has not been verified” about where the Venezuelan government is holding the two Bilbao residents.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in charge of this operation and Minister Albares has already given the relevant explanations in the Senate,” he added.
