The activists of EH Bildu have unanimously supported the proposed regulations of the Political Table for the process that began this Saturday and will end on February 8, 2025.
Euskal Herria Image held this Saturday in Tabakalera in Donostia-San Sebastián a Political Conference which begins a process that will culminate in the congress in Pamplona in February, in which the Arnaldo Otegi as General Coordinator of the Coalition. During today’s meeting, the rules for the Third Congress were unanimously approved.
Otegi has called for “overcoming the outdated relationship model of the old Basque nation with the state”, because the autonomous model “has failed” and “the time of coffee for everyone” is over. Furthermore, he has assured that EH Bildu “is the story of a political success” that more and more Basques support, and has pointed out that “here is an alternative government and state”.
“With respect for the democratic will of this country, of its citizens, we must overcome and adapt an outdated model of relationship between the old Basque nation and the state. This agreement must respect our national condition, our condition as a nation, our national rights and the free will of our citizens,” he declared during his speech at the Political Conference.
Otegi has insisted that “we must overcome the coffee era for everyone, because, among other things, it does not recognise the plurinational character of the Spanish state.” After pointing out that the Basques need a broad agreement on a new status, he said that this must “respect the desire and democratic will of the people.” “Euskal Herria is a nation and we owe it respect,” he said.
Overcome Neoliberal Policies
The general coordinator of the sovereigntist coalition has assured that EH Bildu “is the story of a political success”, because more and more people support its mobilizations. In any case, he stressed that “we will not fall into complacency. We have the historical responsibility to be useful to the people. We are not here to defend acronyms, we are here to defend projects that can improve people’s lives. . ” and can make the national freedom of this people easier.
For this reason, he called for “overcoming neoliberal policies, building a model of political status that restores and respects the national situation and all the national rights of the Basques”. He denounced that neoliberalism “has caused the degradation of public services, our lives and our values”. “Our proposal is clear: from the leadership of public administrations, public policies must be implemented. The watchword of our political activities will be based on this reflection”, he announced.
