A protest for more nature conservation. Greenpeace erected a memorial in front of the Federal Chancellery on Wednesday morning. Made of rubble from the flood disaster in Lower Austria.
The clean-up continues on the twelfth day after the storm disaster. Flooded cellars, garages and houses were a horror scenario that became reality in Lower Austria. Thousands of volunteers were deployed, including the non-profit organization Greenpeace.
To ensure that nature conservation is not further postponed by politicians, environmental activists have built a mountain of rubble in front of the Federal Chancellery.
“We need climate and conservation measures from the new federal government. Because conservation is the best protection against flooding,” says Greenpeace climate expert Jasmin Duregger.
According to Greenpeace, the slowdown in climate and nature conservation must be stopped. Renaturation measures are intended to protect the people of Austria from the increasingly frequent and violent storms.
