Large crowds at Austria’s only neutral election party, jointly organized by “Krone”, Landtmann boss Bernd Querfeld and European and future Forum Alpbach boss Othmar Karas.
The two major coalition stars Christian Kern and Reinhold Mitterlehner were welcomed by “Krone” columnist Conny Bischofberger and interviewed on stage. Naturally, both were not very enthusiastic about the election results.
Christian Kern emphasized that 29 percent would result in a majority on election night, but not in a majority in parliament. Therefore, both parties SPÖ and ÖVP must now start joint negotiations to form a government.
Further impressions of the “Krone” party in Café Landtmann:
The two agreed, as strategy consultants Joe Kalina and Heidi Glück stated, that the demonization of Herbert Kickl probably helped him.
Othmar Karas advocated showing state political greatness instead of party political tactics.
