Excitement in our neighboring country Germany: the SPD is planning a migrant quota in the public sector. A corresponding draft law should be available by Christmas.
There is talk of “immigration society participation” that needs to be strengthened – in authorities and federal courts. The SPD initially did not mention a specific percentage of migrants in the public service. In any case, there should be a ‘participation council’. A “holistic strategy with concrete support measures, objectives and measures for cultural change” is planned, according to an interview with “Bild”.
Faeser’s ‘heart project’.
This strategy should be implemented in both the federal government and state-owned enterprises. In June, ‘Bild’ reported on a corresponding ‘heart project’ by German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser. For example, the planned bill should state that government vacancies should include a statement “that applications from people with an immigration background are expressly desired.”
Every four years the government must report on the extent to which the set goals are being achieved. Migrant organizations must be able to take a stand and workers must be regularly questioned.
“Advertising campaign for the AfD”
As expected, the FDP’s project was criticized. This quota is “contrary to performance” and discriminates against “anyone who does not meet the quota,” said Christoph Meyer, vice-chairman of the parliamentary group. Bremen migration researcher Stefan Luft even spoke of a “major state advertising campaign for the AfD” and said that society would be divided. “Such policies give the impression that they favor migrants and discriminate against indigenous people.”
