The General Coordinator of EH Bildu has indicated that the change of cycle is a change that has already begun in Euskal Herria. Therefore, he stressed that they must manage this victory with intelligence, generosity and responsibility.
The General Coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegiexplained that they are needed from now on broad alliances and that contacts have already been made with various forces to form another alternative government in several municipalities.
Likewise, he has indicated that they are willing to co-lead this political change with others, and that they have an outstretched hand to be able to do so with all political and social sectors that want profound change in the country.
Otegi has analyzed last night’s election results after discussing them at the political table of EH Bildu, which is meeting today in San Sebastián, and has stressed that given the country’s challenges, “minimum programs and broad alliances are needed, and in some fallen it is up to us to lead those alliances”.
The increase in votes and councilors, in a context of increased abstinence, reflects that the growth of the nationalist left is “structural”, implying a responsibility to lead a “serene change” in the Basque Country, using alliances in which all political forces except “the Spanish right,” Otegi explained.
He has assured that EH Bildu should rule in Vitoria-Gasteiz and in the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa because that is what the citizens voted for and he has warned that if the PNV and PSE-EE activate their pacts to expel the nationalist group “they’ll have to explain”.
“It is clear that the general deputy of Gipuzkoa should be Maddalen Iriarte, the mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz Rocío Vitero. We are not considering any other hypothesis. What else is going on? They will have to explain,” said Otegi .
