The State Secretary for Neos Sepp Schellhorn is looking for eight new employees. Minister of Foreign Affairs Meinl-Reisinger spends 20 million euros on a campaign, so that Austria takes place in the UN Security Council for two years. Why Austria chokes in this place.
The “Audi-Sepp” alias Neos State Secretary Josef “Sepp” Schellhorn has the emotions back on the boil. After his service tower gate, he is again accused of a waste of tax money: eight new employees for his newly created debt bureaucracy will be stopped in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For Schellhorn, the area is deliberately slim. Many see it differently.
You cannot understand the indignation in the office of Foreign Minister Bathe Meinl-Reisinger. “First you accuse Schellhorn, it does nothing. Now you have set up a the -deskcratiation site, and that does not fit.” The planned personnel spending is protected in the budget.
Schellhorn wants to make a sort of ombudsman with the Enturo -Bureaucratisingscentrum: it should serve as a contact point for citizens who can be presented here with their concerns, suggestions and symptoms.
Germany and Austria in the diplomatic duel
But party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger is also criticized for tackling tax money too easily. She wants to invest around 20 million euros in an election campaign within the UN. The goal is: to get a non-independent seat on the UN Security Council.
What’s behind it? Portugal, Germany and Austria Knights by two seats in the UN Security Council for the 2027 and 2028. Everyone who receives these seats will be decided during an election during the UN -general meeting 2026. Portugal is considered resolved, in the diplomatic duel between Germany and Austria is called on.
For the prestige project there is a budget specialt pot of 20 million so that diplomatic personalities for Austria can ‘advertise’ as special officers abroad.
FPö: Government “has lost gravity”
The expensive campaign is a “support” for the FPö. Spokeswoman Susanne Fürst of FPö Foreign Policy: “If you instruct at home, but you are organizing Champagne receptions in New York, you have lost ground liability.”
The office of Beate Meinl-Reisinger states that the application had started 14 years ago and was also followed under FPO Minister of Foreign Affairs Karin Kneissl. “If you take the institution seriously, you must actively work for peace and diplomats.”
“No expansion of the budget, but a new weighting”
Moreover, the general budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is falling despite this campaign. It is therefore not an extension of the budget, but a new weighting to a changing geopolitical world situation. If you have the opportunity to “sit at the table of world diplomacy, you must use this opportunity”. The campaign in the council of ministers must be decided next week.
