The Ukrainian secret service SBU has arrested the head of an armal company, which is said to produce 120,000 defective artillery shoots for the arms of the country. The deputy director of the company in the Dnipropetrovsk area and two representatives from the Ministry of Defense were also arrested, according to SBU.
As the SBU announced on Sunday, the company received a state mandate for the production of 120,000 grenades of the caliber in 2024, 120 millimeters worth ten billion Hrywnja (the equivalent of approximately 232.7 million euros). The entire delivery had to be called from the front – the floors were inappropriate.
Incorrect inflammatory capsules in a delicate phase
The researchers accuse the company of the use of a non -approved pouring mixture during production. In addition, inflammatory capsules were defective, which significantly influenced the operational capacity of the ammunition. The incident takes place in a phase in which the Ukrainian army is particularly dependent on functioning artillery in the light of massive Russian attacks.
Ukraine has been defending itself against an extensive Russian invasion for more than three years. Especially in the first half of 2024, Kyjiw complained about an acute lack of artillery ammunition. The production of domestic armament was therefore increased, international partners tried to obtain extra ammunition on the world market.
Ukraine increasingly under pressure
In the meantime, the military administration ordered the evacuation of seven villages in the eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk. The reason is the approaching front line, explained the administration. Three places in the municipality of Nowopawliwka and four villages in the municipality of Meschiwska are being hit.
Although there are currently no Russian troops, there is a risk for the civilian population, it said. The mandatory evacuation of families with children in neighboring cities had already been ordered.
At the same time, President Wolodyymyr Senskyj renewed his requirement for an “honest end” of the war. In a video switch to a top of regional states, he emphasized that such peace could not contain “rewards for Putin” – especially not in the form of territorial concessions.
The hope for ceases -furen disappears
In the meantime, the Kremlin rejected a Ukrainian proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitrij Peskow said that there were “a few more questions” that should be clarified before they approached. Without answers to this, a long -term fire breach is not possible, Peskow said.
In addition to the Crimea Peninsula in 2014, Russia claims another four Ukrainian regions – a position that strictly rejects Kyjiw.
