It was the Great Hope project of Steyr Automotive after the collaboration with Gaz became nothing because of the sanctions against Russia. Since Wednesday afternoon, the last hope for the start-up of the E-Truck Volta has also submitted Burst: Volta Commercial Vehicles GmbH has submitted a bankruptcy application.
A few weeks ago, some parts were auctioned on the online platform Aurena. That was still stored in Steyr and for which there was no longer any use. From cycling polluters to screws, climbing managers to the suitcase structure: more than 530 positions came under the hammer after Volta has restored the business model and now positioned itself as a manufacturer of a vehicle frame.
The partner has hired financial support
But whether something will be doubted. Because: the opening of a bankruptcy procedure was asked on Wednesday via Volta Commercial Vehicles GmbH, the Alpine Officer Association reports. Reason: the Volta Commercial Vehicles Limited, which in turn is the only shareholder of the company, hired financial support after the research assignment was difficult and not how the planned time could be completed.
With more than a million euros, GmbH, Volta, now sliding into bankruptcy, the salaries for the seven employees were last paid at the end of February. According to AKV, it is not intended to continue the company. That also means that for further orders on Steyr -Automotive.
The project with Volta was raised with many expectations in the former Manfabriek in Upper Austria. In April 2023, the then Minister of Environment Leonore Gewessler visited Steyrr and visited production. Big plans were made: in 2027, 14,000 e-truck trucks from the Volta Zero model had to leave the work in Upper Austria. In October 2023 the project came to a halt as a result of bankruptcy, at the end of February 2024 there was a signals for the restart, which did not really want to adapt.
