OÖVP club boss fights criticism of “creeping climate protection” in the country.
The ÖVP of Upper Austria does not want to give in to the green criticism that it is far too lax with climate protection. Club president Christian Dörfel is going on the counter-attack, for example in the field of wind energy, where the Greens, led by state spokesman Stefan Kaineder, are pushing for a huge expansion.
Not a single wind power station yet
For Dörfel, this requirement does not fit if you look on the map at the actual policy of the Greens: “It is striking that the only three states where there is no wind power plant are those where the Greens are in a government coalition: Salzburg, Tirol and Vorarlberg. And this despite the fact that numerous studies see potential for building wind turbines there”.
Top position in Upper Austria”
In Sunday’s “Krone”, ÖVP regional councilor Markus Achleitner referred to “Upper Austria’s leading position in many areas of renewable energy”. Club chairman Dörfel substantiates this and returns a saying of the Greens to them: “Climate protection does not need headlines, but tangible actions,” he emphasizes. That is why the VP and FPÖ government program has set a clear timetable for climate neutrality by 2040.
