Had big plans: Hamas wanted to ‘wipe out’ Israel in just two years

Date:

Terrorists planned an even bigger attack: they wanted to blow up tall buildings in Tel Aviv, explode freight trains and attack ports with boats.

It is a “sacred goal,” Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar wrote in a letter to Iranian revolutionary leader Ali Khamenei, and Hamas will not waste a minute or money until this “sacred goal” is achieved: the destruction of Israel. In his letter, Sinwar asks Iran for $500 million, weapons supplies and military training to deploy an additional 12,000 fighters. In return, the Hamas leader assures Tehran: “We are confident that within two years, God willing, we and you will eradicate this monstrous entity.”

Hamas left documents behind in bunkers
The letter is part of documents and minutes of meetings that US media say were found by the Israeli army in an abandoned Hamas bunker in the town of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip and have now been made available to the New York Times and the Washington Post. According to the New York Times, experts close to Hamas have confirmed the authenticity of the documents.

The major attack was actually planned for 2022
Many of the protocols were already known, but what is new is that Hamas wanted to carry out its terrorist attack on Israel, killing more than 1,200 people and kidnapping around 250 on October 7 a year ago, in 2022. The documents do not reveal why the ‘major project’ was postponed. However, the minutes contain many discussions about how to win over Iran and the Lebanese terrorist militia Hezbollah to the operation.

It is possible that Hamas did not yet have enough confidence in this support in 2022. In 2023, Hezbollah began firing rockets into the north of the country, the day after the terrorist attack on Israel’s south. And the country continues to do so, despite massive rocket attacks by the Israeli air force and the army’s partial invasion of southern Lebanon.

The attack should have been even bigger
The Hamas documents seized in Gaza also contain thousands of images of military and civilian targets in Israel. Apparently Hamas was planning a much larger attack. The documents contain plans to blow up high-rise buildings in Tel Aviv, detonate explosive-laden freight trains in Israeli cities, convert fishing boats into speedboats and attack Israeli ports.

Iran denies being aware of Hamas’ plans. However, the now published documents show that Tehran was well aware of this.

Four Israeli soldiers killed, more than 60 injured
Meanwhile, the terrorist militia Hezbollah carried out a bloody attack on Israel, killing four Israeli soldiers and wounding more than 60 – seven of them seriously. Hezbollah said a “squadron of attack drones” attacked an Israeli military training camp in Binyamina, near Caesarea in central Israel. The drones, in reality there were probably only two, would have flown over the Mediterranean Sea and then headed inland. At least one drone crashed through the roof of the military camp’s canteen and exploded there. The soldiers were killed or injured by shrapnel.

Before the attack, the warning sirens had not sounded and the air defense system was apparently not functioning properly. Army spokesman Hagari: “We are obliged to provide better protection.” Errors would be analyzed.
