The Supreme Court opens a case against the Attorney General for spreading information about Ayuso’s friend

It is the first time that an attorney general has conducted an investigation. The Supreme Court Public Prosecution opposed the accusation.

The Supreme Court has one criminal case against him state attorney generalÁlvaro García Ortiz, for a crime of revealing secrets having regard to the dissemination of information on the proceedings for alleged tax fraud by Alberto González Amador, partner of the President of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

It’s one unprecedented measureas it is the first time that the head of the Public Prosecution Service has been indicted. The decision has been made unanimously.

González Amador has taken to court over the distribution of an information note in which the Madrid Public Prosecutor’s Office reported on the exchange of emails between his lawyer and the prosecutor Julián Salto regarding the alleged tax fraud for which he is being investigated. García Ortiz took responsibility for this statement.

The court has also declared itself competent to investigate the case chief provincial prosecutor of MadridPilar Rodríguez Fernández, who is said to have sent the Attorney General data in preparation of the above-mentioned note. Although she does not have certified status, the order explains that both conduct — the attorney general’s and hers — have an “inextricable connection that prevents the initiation of separate cases.”
