After Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen gave ÖVP leader Karl Nehammer the task of forming a government, things could now move quickly with the Zuckerl coalition. An initial list of ministers has already been exchanged behind the scenes. Prominent names seem to tremble more. Arguments will probably continue over the Ministries of Finance and Transport in particular…
The path seems clear for the candy coalition; behind the scenes, the first list of ministers has already been drawn up. 17 offices, 14 ministers and three secretaries of state are considered the most likely size of a government. As the party with the largest number of votes, the ÖVP will likely get seven ministerial posts, the SPÖ five ministerial posts – leaving two for the NEOS. All three parties should each have a secretary of state.
