According to the current confidence index, the Austrian Armed Forces is in first place for the first time with 67 points. This means that compared to 2023 – when it stood at 51 points in September of the previous year – the federal army has increased significantly by 16 points and has thus been able to win the trust of the population.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner was pleased with the confidence of the Austrians: “The current investigation is an appreciation for the work of our armed forces and shows that the efforts of our soldiers in recent years have been worthwhile.”
The federal army is working “around the clock for the safety and protection of the Austrian people,” Tanner said.
The Office of the Ombudsman takes second place and the executive branch also has a say. At the other end of the trust scale are insurance companies, the (Catholic) church and social media.
The APA-OGM trust index measures the confidence of the population in political and public institutions. Just five years ago, in 2019, the Armed Forces ranked sixth with 32 points. In recent years it has gained more and more confidence.
