In response to a question from Pello Otxandiano (EH Bildu) about the EU’s challenges in light of Trump’s victory, Imanol Pradales acknowledged that “we are putting the global Euskadi at risk” and that the Basque government “wants to be the protagonist and must be of the rebirth of Europe”.
The lehendakari Imanol Pradales announced on Friday where he will travel Brussels He next November 19 to “defend the interests” of Euskadi in Europe, at a time of uncertainty due to his role following Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections.
Pradales made this announcement during the full scrutiny session in the Basque Parliament, in response to a question from Pello Otxandiano (EH Bildu) about the EU’s challenges in light of the victory of the republican candidate.
“For the well-being of the people of Euskadi, we must be in Europe. We must and want to be protagonists of the rebirth of Europe,” the Lehendakari argued, adding that “the global Euskadi” is at stake.
According to the Lehendakari, Euskadi is “a small city, although not a periphery without strength”, so it is necessary to “defend the interests of the Basques”.
