The term of State Councilor Katharina Wiesflecker (Greens) ended last week. In the “Krone” she looks back on her various positions and the ups and downs she has experienced over the past 30 years.
Katharina Wiesflecker never had the dream of taking on the office of chancellor or mayor. Nevertheless, she climbed the political career ladder. Wiesflecker’s husband Peter is “guilty” of this. In the early 1990s, just as his wife was looking to change careers, he discovered a vacancy from the Green Party. A coordinator was sought for the eco party who would organize election campaigns and help build the organization. He said it was for her. “Surprisingly for myself, I got the job, even though I had never been politically active,” Wiesflecker recalls. The first day of work was particularly exciting because Ekkehard Muther took her to an EU accession event together with Peter Pilz.
