PSOE officials had requested the resignation of the PSOE-M general secretary before the PSOE Federal Congress this weekend, after recording a private WhatsApp conversation with a La Moncloa official in a notary office.
The general secretary of the PSOE-M, Juan Lobatohas maintained his position this Tuesday despite the pressure to resign following his registration with a notary office of a WhatsApp conversation with an official from La Moncloa (Pilar Sánchez Acera) regarding the alleged tax crimes of Alberto González Amador, partner of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
Juan Lobato on Tuesday denounced the “lynching” that in recent hours he has suffered from some members and colleagues of his party and has emphasized that there is internal democracy in the PSOE. ‘I am concerned about lynching by leaders of my party’he announced in a no-questions-asked media appearance at the Madrid Assembly.
That same Monday, Lobato had gone to a notary office without informing anyone to record some WhatsApp messages he had Pilar Sanchez Acerathe current Chief of Staff of the Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, who at the time of the conversation was Chief of Staff of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
Lobato stated yesterday that Sánchez Acera – also Minister of Institutional Policy of the PSOE-M – had sent him the letter email in which Ayuso’s friend allegedly admitted to tax crimesbut the leader of the Madrid Socialists assured that “not from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, but from the media.” In this sense, he said on Tuesday that he does not consider that “the origin of this documentation was not the media, because that would be quite serious.”
In the same way, Juan Lobato responded this Tuesday to the PP’s criticism by ensuring that the PSOE “is not a sect”. “The PSOE is a democratic party with 145 years of history, a party of militants and exemplary political leaders, and it will remain so,” he added.
The leader of the Madrid Socialists is called to testify as a witness next Friday in the case opened by the Supreme Court against the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, for an alleged disclosure of secrets of the Ayuso couple, in particular the email he allegedly sent to the leader of the Madrid Socialists Pilar Sanchez Acera.
In the last few hours, PSOE officials have called for Lobato’s resignation before the Federal Congress of the PSOE this weekend in Seville, realizing that “confidence has been broken”.
