Former US President Bill Clinton has been released after a short hospital stay in the capital Washington. The 78-year-old was treated there for flu.
Clinton wants to thank the medical staff for their “extraordinary care” and wishes everyone a “happy and healthy holiday season.”
The Democrat was president from 1993 to 2001. His term was overshadowed by the Lewinsky affair and the subsequent impeachment proceedings, which he survived politically.
His wife Hillary Clinton, who served as a senator and secretary of state, also ran for president in 2016 but was defeated by Republican Donald Trump.
