The Government Gazette publishes the transfer of both powers from the government of Spain to the Basque government. The one for cinematographic and audiovisual activities will come into force on January 1 and the one for coastal planning and management on April 1.
The Official Gazette (BOE) published on the morning of this Monday, December 30, the transfer by the Government of Spain to the Basque Government of Euskadi of the powers in the field of cinematography and coastal management, which takes effect immediately, although they will come into force on January 1 and April 1, 2025, respectively.
In two royal decrees, signed by King Felipe VI and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the transfer of powers to the Basque Country in the field of cinematographic and audiovisual activities from January 1, 2025 and that of organization and management of the coast is made official from April 1 of the same year.
This was agreed last week in the Joint Committee on Transfers of the State Administration and the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, chaired by the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, and in which the Basque Country was represented by the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory , Angel Víctor Torres. In the field of coastal planning and management, certain functions and services are transferred to Euskadi which, in the areas of administration, inspection and sanctioning powers, has exercised the General Administration of the State.
The Joint Transfer Commission has also agreed to expand the functions of the State Administration transferred to the Basque Country by Royal Decree 3069/1980, in the areas of foundations, cultural associations, books and libraries, cinematography, music and theater, youth and social -cultural promotion, historical-artistic heritage and sports.
Under this agreement, the Autonomous Community assumes, within its territorial scope, the tasks related to the management of aid to promote the dissemination activity of cultural diversity, the development of audiovisual projects and the promotion of audiovisual media in the Basque Country.
On the other hand, the Autonomous Community is responsible for managing the collection of contributions to the Film and Audiovisual Promotion Fund in co-official languages other than Spanish.
