Ramuntxo Goihetxe’s “Ahetze Zuekin” list has obtained 38% of the votes, Ramuntxo Labat-Aramendi’s “Ahetzen” 37% and Leatitia Guesdon-Michaud’s “Ahetze Bihotzean” candidacy 24%. The second election meeting will take place next Sunday.
In Lapurdi, in the city Ahetzeare celebrated elections to choose the new councilor. In May, Mayor Philippe Elizalde and several council members resigned and the city council has been in a situation of instability since then. The Prefect of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques has called elections and this weekend the first round took place, with a participation of 59%, making the passage to the second round of the three candidates.
The candidacy of Ramuntxo Goihetxe “Ahetze Zuekin” has obtained 38% of the votes, the “Ahetzen” list of the nationalist candidate Ramuntxo Labat-Aramendi 37% – only 8 votes in favor of Goihetxe – and the “Ahetze Bihotzean” list of Leatitia Guesdon-Michaudsupported by the previous mayor, came third with 24% of the votes.
Because no one received half the votes and all received more than 20% support, the three candidates advanced to the second round. That is why the Aheztarras will vote again this Sunday, January 12. The candidate with the most votes that day becomes mayor.
