Musk in the crosshairs – European Commission wants access to internal X documents

Date:

The European Commission continues the procedure against Elon Musk’s Platform It requires access to internal documents through algorithms. The EU has been monitoring the activities of Trump friend Musk for some time.

The documents must be submitted by February 15, the report said. The platform will also be asked to grant the authority access to certain programming interfaces. This should help the investigation. Various proceedings are pending against X for alleged violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA).

This is intended to limit the influence of large platforms. If they do not adhere to the guidelines, for example to combat hate speech and disinformation, they risk sanctions. The fines can amount to six percent of the total global annual turnover. The European Commission can also impose daily fines until the problems are resolved. Large services such as Facebook, Instagram and X apply stricter rules than smaller platforms.

Impact on the European elections?
Observers are concerned about Musk’s influence on the European elections, for example in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. For example, on X the billionaire supports the AfD (Alternative for Germany), which is classified as right-wing extremist. Only she could solve Germany’s problems.

Under future US President Donald Trump, who takes office on Monday, Musk is expected to become a government representative for reducing bureaucracy. More and more media and art professionals, as well as NGOs and political parties, are now turning their backs on X and switching to the short message service Bluesky (see video above). There are now more than 25 million users.

“X is a danger to democracy, human rights and humanity,” said the NGO coalition 11.11.11 Belgium.
