After months of secrecy, the new Viennese education director has now been determined: Elisabeth Fuchs will take over the position, as the ‘Krone’ learned in advance.
Since former education director Heinrich Himmer (SPÖ) resigned from his post at the end of June and moved to the National Council, the battle for a successor has begun. That was over six months ago and Arno Langmeier took over the position on an interim basis.
However, his hopes for a long-term takeover have been dashed today at the latest. After almost seven months, the successor has finally been determined. As the “Krone” learned in advance, Elisabeth Fuchs will take over the education management.
Until now, she was in charge of the East education region. Her duties include the implementation of reforms and development projects in the region, quality management, participation in site-specific school development, quality assurance and strategic human resources management for school management.
The tasks that await her now are certainly more challenging, because the educational woes in Vienna are great.
