Because of Greenland – EU politician panics: “Trump, fuck off!”

Date:

A Danish EU parliamentarian has made it very clear what he thinks of US President Donald Trump wanting to make Greenland part of the US: nothing! Or to put it in Anders Vistisen’s original words: “Trump, fuck off”, which roughly means: “Trump, fuck off”.

Vistisen, a politician from the right-wing populist Dansk Folkeparti (Danish People’s Party), was furious at Trump’s undisguised Greenlandic ambitions during a public appearance on Tuesday.

Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. “It is an integrated part of our country, it is not for sale.” Neither threats nor prayers can change this fact.

Crystal clear message to Trump: “Fuck off!”
A few sentences later, Visitsen became even clearer and continued with the American president, who himself was not particularly squeamish: “Let me put it in words you might understand: ‘Mr. Trump, fuck off! ”

In a tweet on Wednesday, Vistisen qualified his statement somewhat. Of course you have to speak nicely, the Dane reprimanded himself for his choice of words.

Just one day after Trump came to power, Denmark reiterated that no country could simply “help” itself to Greenland. “Of course we cannot have a world order in which countries, if they are big enough, whatever they are called, can serve themselves to their heart’s content,” Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said on Tuesday.

Trump returned to the White House in Washington on Monday. Shortly before, he had declared that he wanted to take over resource-rich Greenland, which belongs to Denmark as an autonomous region, and had not ruled out military action. Trump also threatened a similar approach to the Panama Canal takeover.

Trump: Greenland is a beautiful place and important to the US
In his inaugural speech, Trump did not repeat the threat against Greenland, but shortly afterwards, when asked by members of the press, he said: “I’m sure Denmark will get along well. Greenland is a beautiful place that the US needs.” “international security,” Trump said.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Monday that Europe must prepare for a “new reality”. The people of Greenland must be given the right to self-determination, while at the same time Denmark must maintain its relations with the US.

Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede has repeatedly emphasized that Greenland has nothing against closer ties with Washington, but that the country is not for sale.
