There has been speculation for a long time, now it should be resolved: a few months before the state elections in Lower Austria and shortly before the planned end of the ÖVP inquiry commission, the governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, would also should be invited. This was confirmed on Tuesday by other parties of the “Krone”.
On January 29, 2023, a new state parliament will be elected in Lower Austria. The appointment calendar of ÖVP Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, which is already very full, should soon be enriched with a new entry. As the “Krone” found out, the governor of the state is invited to the corruption subcommittee of the ÖVP. That has been clear since Tuesday evening.
Which party insisted on the invitation
As the ORF also reported on Tuesday evening, the invitation comes mainly from the SPÖ. Other parties were informed on Tuesday – and probably agreed.
With Bernhard Ebner, the leader of the Lower Austrian party, another high-ranking ÖVP politician from Lower Austria is likely on the subpoena list, according to the ORF. Friday should be clear when the two must testify under the obligation to tell the truth. As the “Krone” discovered, the two commission days were last traded on November 23 and 24.
