Dispute not ended – which means the new migration course in Germany

Date:

The migration dispute in the German Bundestag has escalated. As reported, AfD and Union voted for a stricter course on Wednesday, which, among other things, provides for a harder approach to migrants without documents.

At the request of the Union, the German federal government asked to arrange extensive rejections to German borders. Asylum seekers are no longer allowed to enter. Speakers from the FDP, AfD and some frameworksless had pronounced for this, the remaining government parties SPD and Greens and the group Die Linke. The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) had recorded.

According to the German Ministry of the Interior, 20,084 people from Germany were deported last year, around 22 percent more than 2023, however, a problem is that many who actually have to stay longer. Among them are criminals. There are various reasons, for example that the countries of origin do not work together in the case of returns or that the affected that are not found on the day of deportation. Moreover, the competent authorities always lack to organize a return in the short term, for example due to overloading.

State aid also years later
In the previous year, about 30 percent fewer asylum applications were made (229,751 Request to apply), but many asylum seekers still need state aid years after arrival, for example because of psychological problems or because they do not find an apartment.

On Friday, migration will be again coordinated in the Bundestag. It will be a draft law that is intended to put an end to the family manager of subsidiaries. This is currently limited to 1000 people per month. It will also be whether the federal police can send people back to other countries if they meet the person who is obliged to leave.

Criticism of the decision union with AfD
What this means for the German election campaign is not yet foreseeable. Studies show that the piss potential of the AfD – ie the people who could imagine to choose Alice Weidel’s party – is considerably smaller than the potential electorate of the CDU/CSU and SPD. Some people who do not put their cross on the AfD under any circumstances can also be critical of a decision with voices from the AfD.

On the other hand, many voters believe that too many asylum seekers have been admitted in recent years. Deportation would go too slow.
