After the power change in Syria, De-Facto ruler Ahmed al-Sharaa has now been appointed as temporary president. He must take the duties of the head of state in the transition phase.
Al-Sharaa, who is also known as Abu Muhammad al-Jaulani or Dscholani, has been the leader of the Syrian militia HTS since 2017. This led the rebel offensive, which in December 2024 the old ruler Bashar al-Assad fell.
He was already considered a political leader of Syria without the appointment as a transitional chairman. At the end of December he announced that it could take three years to work out a new constitution. It can even take four years until elections.
Emphasizes the moderate program
According to the fall of the Assad regime, rebel management has announced that it does not allow clothing regulations for women, to resolve the combat troops and integrate their members into the armed forces. The former military commander has been moderately moderate since the change of power. Al-Sharaa was commissioned to find advice for the transition phase.
During a conference in Damascus, the new rulers explained to ignore the 2012 Constitution. The parliament of the old government is dissolved. The Baath party of the cases ruler Assad, who has already accepted her work in Syria, and institutions may no longer be active with it.
Although the country is politically crushed and denomination after more than a decade, many Syrians combine hope for a new beginning with the change of power.
