It’s time for unity

I decided not to go to the second round of the internal range for the presidency of the Euzkadi Buru Batzar. It is a long meditated decision. When the aforementioned letter was made public last Saturday, January 18, my decision was made after a long and proven internal debate about the best option for the immediate future of the party. By my first starting position, favorable to change, they convinced me and convinced myself that I had to present myself to follow a different mandate if the militancy wanted it.

I have seen the results, and considering the development of this first round, but I believe that I have to reconsider my position and return to my first intimate conviction, namely that I had to make way for innovation. You have been there a lot and a lot who nowadays showed me your personal and lively attachment to continue. I want to thank you for your support for those who have trusted me and you introduced me in the first round to become president of the EB, but I hope and I ask you to understand my decision. First I have to think about the party and its future. Another candidacy has emerged with sufficient ambition to accept the presidency of the EB. Also and civilized, because we want to do a second round process with two candidates who are confronted, the risk of division within the party would be high and irresponsibility. It is a moment of unity, and that is what I think I have to promote now.

I insisted on the militancy that now participates with more Anell than in the first phase, so that a coherent and strong EB comes from the mood, capable of accepting the important mission to be developed in the coming years. For the new presidency and the new and the new Burukides I wish you good luck and happiness for their management to be successful and I can keep the party in the high levels of institutional representation that we now have, or even overcome. They will always have my help and support in that mission.

It has been a great honor, first, to be president of Bizkai Buru Batz for five years and then the Euzkadi Buru Batzar for the past twelve years. It does not match me to appreciate the performance in this mission in this mission in these more than seventeen complicated years, I say that I have done my best and with the full dedication I have been able to do. And that I have been happy to have been what I have been and that I have felt and I feel very popular for you and you, for the Alderdikides of this great game that is EAJ-PNV.
