“Big Gap” -ex-Faymann spokesman Leo Szemeliker (56) died

The former journalist and Faymann spokesperson Leo Szemeliker died at the age of 56. This was announced on Wednesday by Health Burgenland, the spokesperson for the press from which he was until the end. Szemeliker received the “silver honorary sign” of the state of Burgenland in November 2024.

“For him his task was not only a job, but a personal passion he followed with passion. His absence leaves a big gap, “said the commercial director of Health Burgenland, Franz Oiller, in a broadcast. Szemeliker was head of the Public Relations Office from 2018 to 2021 and from April 2023.

In between, he worked as a spokesperson for the group games for the Landolding Burgenland. In the past, the business economist studied also worked as a business journalist for the daily newspaper “The Standard” and as a speaker and spokesperson for the then Chancellor Werner Faymann (Spö).

In November 2024 he received the “Silver Honorary Sign” from the state of Burgenland. The Burgenland Croatian leaves a woman and two sons. He died after a long and serious illness.
