Was it a cunning, tax-saving construct by an expert, or was it modified in such a way that it was punishable by law?
One can assume that there is a battle over commas in the Vienna court. But the tax trial of ex-treasury minister Karl-Heinz Grasser and his former tax adviser took place completely behind closed doors. What is known is known from the civil proceedings at the commercial court, which are suspended until the criminal proceedings have become final.
It concerns the assignments of Grasser from his time as manager at Meinl Power (MIP). According to the indictment, KHG wanted to “save” taxes. As a result, his tax advisor is said to have designed a globally branched construct of foundations and corporations. But Grasser changed this “construction”. His tax return failed the audit and he was charged with tax evasion.
Two acquittals.
