For months, US President Donald Trump repeatedly spoke about wanting to take control of Greenland, which belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark. During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the White House, he said Thursday when he was asked by a reporter about his plans for a possible annexation: “Well, I think it will happen.” The Prime Minister of Greenland resists: “Enough is enough!”
In a Facebook message, the politician Múte B. Eggede wrote: “Now the US president has again expressed the idea of annexing us. In a sense I can’t accept that. I respect the result of the choice, but I believe that as a president of the Greenland government I have an obligation.
“This time we have to sharpen our rejection to Trump,” he emphasizes. “We should not be treated with a lack of respect. Enough is enough. “
Eigede also announced that he would have the other party leaders as quickly as possible.
“Inappropriate!”
His possible successor as the head of the government, the Liberal Jens-Frederik Nielsen, also rejected the statements of the US president. “Trump’s statement in the US is inappropriate and only shows again that we have to stand together in such situations.”

“Greenland is not for sale”
The Nielsen -Democratic Party election program said: “Greenland is not for sale. Not today. Not tomorrow. Never.”
As is known, Trump has always spoken for months that he wants to take over control of Greenland, which belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark. During a meeting with NATO -Secretary General Mark Rutte in the White House (see video above, note), he said Thursday when he was asked by a reporter for his plans for a possible annexation: “Well, I think it will happen.” Trump emphasized the great strategic importance of the island and that Denmark was very far away.
A survey has shown that a clear majority of island burgers does not want to be part of the United States. Also practically nobody in Greenland politics agrees that the island will become an American territory.
