Director of Education; – “bonus” instead of punishing parents of school children

Date:

In the “Krone” interview, the new educational director of Vienna Elisabeth Fuchs stands against the plans of Minister of Education Christoph Return and the ideas of his Vienna -successor Bettina Emmerling: she argues for both prison for disrespectful parents and homework.

“Krone”: Mrs. Fuchs, they are now in the office for almost two months. What problems have you tackled in this time?
Elisabeth Fuchs: I prefer the name challenge. Our biggest challenge is currently the upcoming most important tender. The point is to find many educators who are interested and willing to work at Viennese schools. We plan an event so that we can inform in advance how a request works and what we can expect. We have many students and career changers who apply to us, this is a big subject for them. I see this as a challenge, because: to have enough educators, the lessons can take place well. The increase in students is also a challenge, the focus is on German financing. For me as an education director, the focus is on guaranteeing that children have fair educational opportunities. The project is large and cannot be implemented from one day.
