From Thursday, the Supreme Court will publicly negotiate the former Minister of Finance Karl-Heinz Grasser. At first there were long prisoners. There can be a judgment quickly.
Causa Buwog has been around since the end of 2009. Well, soon 16 years later (record in Austria), there will be a final decision. Should Karl-Heinz Grasser go to prison? The Supreme Court (OGH) will be public from Thursday about the profession, which also brought the defense of Graser against the 2020 judgment. The OGH is intended to assess the annual complaints and criminal reports.
Four negotiation days are planned. Exceptionally, but it is believed that some defenders will use the stage for excessive argumentation. Insiders, however, assume that the judgment could fall next Friday. Because everything that was not mentioned in advance would be rejected by the Supreme Court.
Nevertheless, there is hope for the accused Grasser (received eight years in prison in the first print), Walter Meischberger (seven years) and Peter Hochegger (six years).
Possibilities from confirmation to acquittal
Even if the general power of attorney, based on the OGH, became acquainted with his “Croquis” that the first judgment on the central allegations of “unfaithful” was correct. Information recently showed that there can still be discrepancies within the highest court. Theoretically a lot can happen. From confirmation of the judgments (is probably considered probably the recommendation of the general power of attorney), by the cancellation of parts of the procedure (back to the start), which reduces the punishment to acquittal.
The striking range
It started with the privatization of the Federal Housing Associations, UA Buwog, 2003. Here and when the financing was collected in the “Terminal Tower” in Linz, high commission payments flowed. According to the indictment, Grasser, his maid Meischberger and the former lobbyist Hochegger would have enriched himself – to the damage of the Republic.
At Buwog there were hidden payments of 9.6 million euros. Dewed through the Hochegger company Constructing with the outcome in Cyprus – The funds in Liechtenstein ended up. The sale of the federal apartments was particularly striking with 961 million in a consortium for immo -financing, the inferior bidder CA Immo had offered 960. Has Grasser betrayed the other offer to his Immofinanz friends? And did he and the fellow fellow with the committee eventually recorded? The layman appeared to see: yes.
Judge came into the picture
Judge Marion Hohenecker came into the picture. The defenders Grasers and Meischberger were biased, especially because their husband, also a judge, had separated Grasser-Tweets. An objection did not help. Now the days of the decision at the OGH.
By the way: “Mastermind” Peter Hochegger (76), who has been convicted of the perpetrator and bribery despite the partial confession and “confession”, will not attend the event in Wiener Schermerlingplatz. He presented a medical certificate: due to severe hip disorders, he cannot participate in longer meetings (negotiations) due to pain.
