The consequences of Trump’s politics are increasingly overwhelming: in the US state of Arkansas, parents must be able to sue people who support minors in a so -called “social transition”.
Affected would not only be teachers or therapists, but also hairdressers who miss the adolescent gender-not-conformity capsules.
Penalties from $ 10,000 to $ 10 million (around 9200 and 9.2 million euros) are planned and complaints can be submitted up to 15 years after an incident. The law was introduced by two Republican MPs. It defines “social transition” as every action that a minor takes a gender identity that does not correspond to the biological gender. This contains name changes, new pronouns, clothing or hairstyles.
Transpers “pushed in an uncertain situation”
According to the draft law, it can already be considered “support” if a teacher appealed to a student with a name other than the name entered in the birth register. Not -Profit organizations that offer advice or shelter for Trans -Jasgmensen can also be charged.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) from Arkansas sharply criticizes the law: “This law wants to prevent essential support through complaintsless complaints and pushing transgender young people into uncertain situations.” The organization calls the concept “bullying written by the state”.
Trans-institution probably doomed to failure
The law would – if it is adopted – immediately challenged before the court. A representative of the attorney general of Arkansas admitted on March 18 in a hearing that some passages of the law were “possibly not constitutional”. “If certain types of speech are criminalized or in this case punished in civil law, this must be a very high constitutional obstacle,” he said.
Arkansas already has experience with failed laws against Trans-Law. In 2021, the State was the first to ban medical treatments for trans -young in the United States. A federal Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional in 2023. Nevertheless, more than two dozen US states have issued laws in recent years that limit the rights of transgender people in areas such as sports, toilet use and medical care.
Inspire Republicans from Trump-Amenda
The law comes at a time when transrechts are increasingly becoming fire in the United States. The former and again candidate President Donald Trump announced in January that the United States would officially recognize only two genera. The struggle for trans -rights is therefore increasingly seen as a central point in the American cultural struggle.
