In Slovenia, left-liberal coalition parties want to give all women access to artificial fertilization. Until now, single people and women in the same -sex relationships are excluded from the process of medically supported reproduction.
“We believe that discrimination will be eliminated after more than 20 years,” said the leader of the parliamentary group of the CO -regulating links, Matej T. Vatovec on Tuesday. This would equal the rights of all women to artificial fertilization and recognize the various family forms in society, the Member of Parliament of the ruling freedom movement, Janja Sluga, added.
The Slovenian Constitutional Court had called for a change from the previous law last year. To date, the procedure of artificial fertilization was reserved for heterosexual couples. Now the ban on the simultaneous use of donated egg and sperm cells is also lifted. However, this option may only be permitted in justified cases. Surrogence remains forbidden and punishable.
In 2021, the attempt failed the right parties
The changes still have to be adopted by the parliament. A veto of the second parliamentary chamber is not excluded. In 2021 the attempt to enable women without a partner to enable artificial insemination, the right and conservative parties.
Five years ago, the constitutional investigation again applied for the left and liberal parliamentary members, and the first signer was Vatovec.
