Plakolm in Budapest: – different opinions, but still “friends”

Date:

According to European minister Claudia Plakolm (ÖVP), Hungary and Austria combine “a deep friendship”. The narrow neighboring relationships also endure “different opinions”, the minister emphasized on Tuesday when she was visited in Budapest.

Personally, she has clear ideas about how Austria should be placed within the EU-with a clear pro-European attitude, but also the will and strength to make Europe better. Plakolm emphasized on the edge of her meeting with her Hungarian counterpart János Bóka that she stands for a neighborhood of Europe and the Member States, so she also led the first road to the neighborhood. There are points on which she and her Hungarian hosts agree, but also points in which they do not agree. “But that remains such a close relationship from my point of view.”

“At the end of the day: no more illegal migration”
Plakolm mentioned the subject of migration in this context. For them, migration and integration are two sides and the same medal. Without regulated EU migration policy, there will be no controllable integration in Austria. The minister also emphasized that she and her host had a different opinion about the asylum and migration pact. This Pact is an extremely important step for Austria, because it is pushed within the EU to take migration policy seriously. “From my point of view, we are also here in the baseline: at the end of the day there should be no illegal migration in the EU.”

Here are the two countries “side by side”
The two neighboring countries are steadfast partners in the fight against anti -Semitism and want to continue this path together. During her meeting, the subject of EU extension on the West Balkan was also dealt with. “And here too we are side by side,” said the Minister of European Moor in her statement at the end of the Budapest visit.
