Delegation in Kiev – Message from LoWower Austria: “Don’t let Ukraine down”

The business delegation around Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and IV president Kari Ochsner completed a closed program on the second day of her visit to Kiev. Conversations with Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal, Minister of Infrastructure DMYTRO Kehba and Minister of Energy German Galushchenko were on the agenda. Aim: to deepen the cooperation between Ukraine and Lager Austria and to make reconstruction in Ukraine sustainable for both parties. With the important message from Mikl-Leitner: “We don’t abandon Ukraine.”

Signing an important convention
An important step for the collaboration was set up with the signing of four so ground “memoranda of understanding” (Mous) between Austrian and Ukrainian partners. The aim here includes cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, green technologies, partnerships for the reconstruction of the Ukrainian airport infrastructure, the development of a hydrogen project and strategic cooperation to decompose the construction sector.

Deep insights into the Ukrainian war country
But not only were companies planned, but also gave insight into the country that was damaged by the war. The traces of the Russian attack of 24 March 2022 can still be seen on the Hostomel Military Airport near Kiev. The attack failed, but there was still enormous damage to the infrastructure, especially on the hangar and the plane in it. The Antonow An-225 “MRIJA”, at the time the world’s largest cargo aircraft, was almost completely destroyed.

Another agenda item: the visit to the village of Moschschun. Here too, the Russians attacked in March 2022 when they tried to take Kiev. 80 Ukrainian soldiers died and countless houses were destroyed. At the memorial of the fallen defenders, the participants of the delegation and Mikl-Leitner flowers were deposited and the deceased thought.
