EH Bildu spokesman Maddalen Iriarte has called for an agreement to ensure prosperity and stressed the need to strengthen the structural public sector.

the lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluin response to a question from EH Bildu during the plenary session of the Basque Parliament, assured that the Basque government has no intention of weakening the public sector and, at the same time, alluded to the essential need to “have stability, dialogue and the will to act as public policy, both from the public sector and the promotion of cooperation from public budgets”.
EH Bildu’s spokesman, Maddalen Iriartehas asked the Lehendakari if he will continue to make policies to “weaken” the public sector, something Urkullu has denied.
The lehendakari has assessed the situation positively. As noted, Euskadi is the community with the best public health system in the state and the lowest unemployment rate. “That’s not just from the public sector, but because we’re working together in public services and public policy, pushing the institutions in the process,” he said.
He also informed Iriarte that the commitments made with EH Bildu in the 2022 budget negotiations will be fulfilled. The Lehendakari has said the public sector has been “consolidated” through public accounts. More government budget means more public sector, and coordinated incentives in government policyhe said, referring to public-private partnerships.
Iriarte, for his part, has assured that for the past ten years the Basque government has followed the “teaching” that the structural public sector should not grow. The spokeswoman has also called for a country agreement to ensure well-being. As he has said, EH Bildu has shown that he can agree, such as in the 2022 budgets and in the education pact.
